Bitten by Books gives PANDORA'S HOPE 4.5 Tombstones!
2011.01.16 04:40:47

I'm very excited to share this latest review by Bitten by Books!  From the review:

The crew of the Pandora’s Hope returns for a sequel to their brilliant first outing, Lust in Space. The wonderful cast returns, mostly in its entirety, from the first book, and this sequel keeps up the strong pace of their first set of adventures. I have to admit that this is one of the most entertaining series I review, and I was really excited to find that there was a sequel to Lust in Space. I am a total sucker for a good sci-fi story, more than almost any other genre, and Lisa Lane manages to weave good plots, strong and sympathetic characters, and some hot erotica into her space opera.

My thanks to Bitten by Books and reviewer Jennifer for this thoughtful and thorough review!

My Sally Field Moment!!
2009.05.12 05:56:03
Okay, I just screamed with joy when I read this. It's not my first book, but MIND GAMES is my first romance novel, and it's the first review of it!!

So I just jumped up and down and made everyone in my office stare at me when the mind games coverfollowing rave review came from YOU GOTTA READ:

"Prepare yourself to be blown away. Reading this book will draw you into a world of telepathy and mental control that will change any prior beliefs you had in such abilities. Wren and Derek are a couple that are aligned in ways that are unheard of. To say they clicked is an understatement. The plot is suspenseful and gripping. The reader is taken along a path with twists and turns and unexpected events that lead to a stunning conclusion. Ms. Tan weaves a wonderful story of love, risk and leaps of faith that are unparalleled in the world of romantic suspense."

This is a nice boost for me today when I just hit the halfway point in writing my next romance novel and could use a little energy to carry me down the hill of the second half!

Brandi Woodlawn
Men In Shorts Reviewed at Coffee Time Romance
2009.05.03 06:43:04
My story, "What Counts Is How You Play The Game," from the Men In Shorts Anthology got reviewed at Coffee Time Romance.

Here's what the reviewer had to say about it:

"Joe shows up to the softball game commando. It is only fair since the pitcher refuses to wear a bra. What happens on the field can effect what goes on off the field.

I do not think softball will ever look the same to me again. For that, I thank Ms. Woodlawn."

Two New Reviews!
2009.04.29 01:45:36

Phoebe Jordan of Talk About My Favorite Authors just released reviews for the first two books in my The Darkness and the Night series, giving Blood and Coffee 3.5 Open Books and Cosmic Orgasm 4 Open Books.  My thanks to Phoebe, who delved into horrorica--not her genre of choice--on a chance, after reading and enjoying my romantic, erotic sci-fi novel, Lust in Space.  I think these reviews are very fair and accurate, and I am happy to share them now with you.

From Phoebe's review for Blood and Coffee:

I had a good time reading this novel because it was different from many of the novels that I usually read. I both liked and disliked Karen because even though she is a strong female character there are times that I really thought she could have done things differently if she wanted to. This also goes the same for Billy the vampire who turns Karen because seems like a nice loving guy but then he shows his true colors as a psyhco. There were some very steamy sex scenes between Karen and Billy that I really enjoyed because they have this attraction to one another even though at first Karen hates Billy for turning her. I also felt kind of creeped out when I read some the scary suspense scenes throughout the novel and I should expect that since it is a dark horror erotic novel with vampires. I enjoyed reading the novel though sometimes I wondered who was good and who was evil throughout the novel because sometimes Karen seemed like she was headed towards being evil while somtimes Billy was headed towards actually being good. Towards the end of the novel I was really looking forward to reading the next The Darkness & the Night series to find out what else is in store for Karen and Billy after the way this novel ended. I give this book 3.5 Open Books

From Phoebe's review for Cosmic Orgasm:

This book is much more exciting and scarier than the first book because now I have a sense of who is evil and who isn't unlike the first book. I like Karen more in this novel because she has come to accept that she is a vampire and doesn't have to kill a human in order to survive. There were some pretty scary and heartbreaking scenes in this book that I enjoyed reading about because it really helped me understand Karen and even Billy more than I did before. I finished the book much quicker than the first and by the time I read the last sentence in the last chapter I really wanted Lisa Lane's next and conclusion to her The Darkness & the Night series to be published already so I could read it. I give this book 4 Open Books

Ryan Field
Review for Officer and his Gentleman...
2009.04.21 00:53:42

A Nice Review...

When it comes to reviews, you never know. Most of the time there's something to be learned from each reviewer that helps the writing process progress. Yes, as hard as it is, even the bad ones help...most of the time. In the past sixteen years, I've had good ones, marginally good ones, and some that weren't very nice. It comes with the territory; you take the good with the bad and smile.
But bless the person who wrote this.

Review for PRETTY MAN by Elisa Rolle...
2009.04.14 01:30:37

As it happens, I've been working on a personal interview for best gay blogs with the book reviewer, Elisa Rolle. And, recently, while I was gathering information for the interview I'm doing with her, I came across this review about the ravenous romance publication, PRETTY MAN. I had no idea she'd written this review when I contacted her for an interview. But I'm glad I found it.

Here's part of the review. Elisa Rolle is in beautiful Italy, and her reviews are written in English, but with a slight Italian accent. The rest of the review can be found here.

I had in the past the chance to read something by Ryan Field, and his style is like some of the other gay romance authors out there that I believe are in the field way before it became the last trend. Ryan Field is like Bobby Michaels, Gavin Atlas, Nathan James, Thom Jaymes...

My First Review for Ripping the Bodice!
2009.02.28 23:56:40
Our own Ryan Field (he of the amazing link sausage) very kindly notified me that he'd found a really nice review for Ripping the Bodice on Amazon.com.  I had to share 'cause it's my first official review for the book.  What a great way to start my weekend!  Thank you, Ryan, and thank you, Ruth, for your kind words!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Title Caught My Eye, February 28, 2009

I haven't read anything else by this author, but the title caught my eye and I decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did. The writing is excellent, the story kept me interested at all times, and I was not disappointed at all. It was perfect entertainment for a snowy weekend in the end of February, and it was a great way to escape from all of life's little problems.

In other news, I just bought myself a gift certificate from Ravenous to take advantage of the 'buy one, get the same amount free' deal.  Now I can start to make my way through all the luscious titles I've been drooling over by my fellow Ravenous authors.  There's a certain food related anthology I've been eyeing, just to start...
