Fear might seem to be the thing you think might be the largest part of a series of vampire BDSM stories. However the degree of intimacy and trust that is needed to fulfill the often-violent fantasies in the following stories is breathtaking. The protagoni Read more…

| Bitten by Books gives PANDORA'S HOPE 4.5 Tombstones! |
| 2011.01.16 04:40:47 | |
|
I'm very excited to share this latest review by Bitten by Books! From the review: The crew of the Pandora’s Hope returns for a sequel to their brilliant first outing, Lust in Space. The wonderful cast returns, mostly in its entirety, from the first book, and this sequel keeps up the strong pace of their first set of adventures. I have to admit that this is one of the most entertaining series I review, and I was really excited to find that there was a sequel to Lust in Space. I am a total sucker for a good sci-fi story, more than almost any other genre, and Lisa Lane manages to weave good plots, strong and sympathetic characters, and some hot erotica into her space opera. Read the full review here. My thanks to Bitten by Books and reviewer Jennifer for this thoughtful and thorough review! Tags: Lisa Lane | Bitten by Books | reviews Hits: 989 | Read more... |
| THE DARKNESS AND THE NIGHT trilogy is now in paperback! |
| 2010.12.19 01:52:00 | |
|
Now, all three books in my erotic horror trilogy, The Darkness and the Night, are available in trade paperback! About The Darkness and the Night I wrote book one, Blood and Coffee, with Homer's Odyssey in mind--a dark, vampire's odyssey that would take the character to Hell and back in her quest for the HEA, a story arc that would continue throughout most of the trilogy. The twisted romance between Karen and Billy is very primal, with neither experienced enough to understand the difference between love and lust, a lesson that comes hard for Karen. Book two, Cosmic Orgasm, is all about Karen's self empowerment as a woman. Karen takes charge of her life, despite all she has suffered. Although still on the run, she makes finally makes her stand, and finds true love along the way. The third book, Twins of Darkness, is a little different, as it follows the first eighteen years of Karen's twin children's lives, while she and her lover hide out in the jungles of suburbia. To achieve this, I divided the story into four parts: Vampire. Mommy. covers the first several months following the twins' birth; The Innocent One covers them as young children; A Family Affair takes place during their adolescent years, and The Awakening occurs when the twins are in their late teens. Karen tries so hard to give her kids a normal life, despite her vamipirism--unfortunately neither of the twins is anything close to "normal," which results in some very unforseen consequences. | What Draws Me to Write Erotic Sci-Fi and Horror . . . with Literary Elements |
| 2010.12.09 10:15:14 | |
|
One might think there would be major differences between writing space opera and crafting erotic horror, but it is what they have in common that makes both genres among my favorites to write. Take the similarities between aliens and vampires, for example. You might not think the two have much of anything in common, but consider the following: · Since both are open to creative interpretation, the sky’s the limit on character attributes, strengths, weaknesses, abilities, beliefs, etc. · Both allow for creative freedom in world-building and universe “rules.” · Both create an outlet through which the author might explore the human condition. I also happen to be a big fan of canonical literature, so I also feel compelled to write for the well-read audience. The result is my own unique brand of dark, literary erotica: multi-layered, with intricate characters and an intense reading experience. Fang-tastic Books writes about The Darkness and the Night: Blood and Coffee: "Lisa Lane has managed to combine it all into one fascinating read that defies conventional genre labeling. She's a great storyteller with a wild imagination and if you are interested in something dark and new this is a book for you." Bitten by Books writes about The Darkness and the Night II: Cosmic Orgasm: “Karen is one vampire that you won’t forget!” Cerebral Reviews writes about The Darkness and the Night III: Twins of Darkness: “As I’ve already said, the plot is superb, and when such a plot comes along, I always marvel at the human imagination and what it can produce. . . . I won’t reveal the spoiler here, but what I will say is what happens between Karen and the person ‘brought back’ gave me pause to wonder what I would do in her situation. Yes, it made me stop reading to ponder, but I see that as a good thing. A book that can make you think like that…well, it’s good, right?” Whipped Cream Erotic Reviews writes of Lust in Space: “Ms. Lane embraced all that we love about sci-fi fantasy and heated it up to super-nova proportions. My question for Ms. Lane is, is this a long-term mission? If so, I'm applying for a boarding pass.” I don’t write just to tell stories, but because I love words. I love crafting sentences that contain multiple meanings, creating characters that have no choice but to face their dark sides, and building worlds in which politics, religion, and hypocrisy are free domain and subject to my literary wrath (Stephen King and Kurt Vonnegut meets Scribblerus, if you will). I write because I want to leave my readers with something different, something profound or personally meaningful. Since many of my storylines are so complex, I ask you the reader: Have either the Lust in Space books or The Darkness and the Night trilogy left you with unanswered questions, unsure about characters, or unsure about a twist? Conversely, have you found (or think you have found) any of my literary “Easter eggs” and care to share? I’d love to chat about it. | Does Size Really Matter? |
| 2009.05.10 08:20:36 | |
|
A few days ago, I narrowed down the top 10 reasons to check out Lust in Space: 1. You’re curious about the one-inch-tall vibrating man. 2. You love everything Star Trek, Farscape, and/or Battlestar Galactica, and feel shortchanged whenever a scene begins to get steamy, only to go to a commercial cut. 3. You want to see 4. The scene in which the Esirian, Suxien, makes love to herself is simply delightful. 5. The book is packed with literary “Easter eggs,” sure to delight pulp sci-fi fans across the board. 6. Shape-shifters take “experimental” to a whole new level. 7. Four out of five erotic romance readers agree that LUST IN SPACE is a classy read and a fun tribute to the genre. 8. You would never have thought the space flu could be kinky. 9. LUST IN SPACE 2 is currently in development, and your TBR pile needs thinning. 10. You know you want to (and nobody has to know!). Since I released the list, I have received numerous comments on “#1.” The inch-tall vibrating man has people intrigued ... and perhaps with due reason. It got me thinking about the subject of size. While Jim is a far extreme when it comes to analyzing size and compatibility, I have noticed that rarely does a “little” man get much positive attention in erotica. Authors find numerous colorful ways to describe and denote the penis, but they tend not to describe them as “small.” The fact of the matter, however, is a monstrously large penis can be just as much of a turn-off ... so why do we, as readers and writers of erotic works, seem to have a fascination with “large?” Click here for more information on Lust in Space. | Two New Reviews! |
| 2009.04.29 01:45:36 | |
|
Phoebe Jordan of Talk About My Favorite Authors just released reviews for the first two books in my The Darkness and the Night series, giving Blood and Coffee 3.5 Open Books and Cosmic Orgasm 4 Open Books. My thanks to Phoebe, who delved into horrorica--not her genre of choice--on a chance, after reading and enjoying my romantic, erotic sci-fi novel, Lust in Space. I think these reviews are very fair and accurate, and I am happy to share them now with you. From Phoebe's review for Blood and Coffee: I had a good time reading this novel because it was different from many of the novels that I usually read. I both liked and disliked Karen because even though she is a strong female character there are times that I really thought she could have done things differently if she wanted to. This also goes the same for Billy the vampire who turns Karen because seems like a nice loving guy but then he shows his true colors as a psyhco. There were some very steamy sex scenes between Karen and Billy that I really enjoyed because they have this attraction to one another even though at first Karen hates Billy for turning her. I also felt kind of creeped out when I read some the scary suspense scenes throughout the novel and I should expect that since it is a dark horror erotic novel with vampires. I enjoyed reading the novel though sometimes I wondered who was good and who was evil throughout the novel because sometimes Karen seemed like she was headed towards being evil while somtimes Billy was headed towards actually being good. Towards the end of the novel I was really looking forward to reading the next The Darkness & the Night series to find out what else is in store for Karen and Billy after the way this novel ended. I give this book 3.5 Open Books Read the full review here. From Phoebe's review for Cosmic Orgasm: This book is much more exciting and scarier than the first book because now I have a sense of who is evil and who isn't unlike the first book. I like Karen more in this novel because she has come to accept that she is a vampire and doesn't have to kill a human in order to survive. There were some pretty scary and heartbreaking scenes in this book that I enjoyed reading about because it really helped me understand Karen and even Billy more than I did before. I finished the book much quicker than the first and by the time I read the last sentence in the last chapter I really wanted Lisa Lane's next and conclusion to her The Darkness & the Night series to be published already so I could read it. I give this book 4 Open Books Read the full review here. | Five-Star Review for LUST IN SPACE! |
| 2009.03.03 05:39:54 | |
|
From Phoebe Jordan's review: "I've never seen "Star Trek" before though Lisa did mention that she came up with this book and the world that it is set in on that old television show. This is a novel that I recommend to everyone to give a try because if you don't you are totally missing out. Lisa Lane delivers a wonderfully intriguing, suspenseful and highly erotic romance novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more even after the novel ends. Lisa if you are reading this I would really like it if you could write a sequel to Lust in Space because there is so much that I would really enjoy knowing more about in that world especially with Nora and Robert." You talked me into it, Phoebe!

A gently laced chain of words awakens every sense; colorful, sweet, musky, hard, and symphonic offering, aching, needing.
The hot, wet red rose smells the fragrant hard wood that penetrates deep into the earth, expanding, tasting her soil, and dancing to the sonata in the wind.

| The Joys of Alien Sex |
| 2009.02.12 10:10:09 | |
|
For me, half the fun of writing science fiction is creating new worlds and new kinds of people, and seeing just how rich and unique I can make them. I love the feeling that comes when that special level of depth and uniqueness develops, when a world paints itself across the page, and the characters take on lives of their own. When it comes to writing about aliens, I feel that it is important to make their worlds, beliefs, and histories meaningful and real. When it comes to writing about aliens and sex, I believe it is just as important to make the characters’ sexual experiences reflect something important or unique about their people. Those characters, in turn, reflect something about all of us.
I had a blast exploring the numerous groups encountered by the Pandora’s Hope crew, in my book Lust in Space. Each type of alien is very different from the next, and each affects the crew in a different way:
Esirians: Esirians, or “Unicorn People,” are a dying race. Spread across the galaxy in waning groups, the Esirians were forced to abandon their planet, after biological warfare left it uninhabitable. Identifiable by their tall stature, pale features, and horn-like structure on the forehead, Esirians are highly intelligent and exceptionally sensitive. They are passionate lovers, and the majority of them are bisexual.
Tantra: The Tantra are bodiless entities that live off sexual energy. Able to enter the minds of the sleeping, Tantra seduce their victims with hot, exciting dreams, and then feed off their life-force like psychic leeches. They have no regard for humanoid life. Tantric space is especially dangerous to Esirians.
Locaru: The Locaru are two-inch-tall, insect-like people, who group together to explore space, via living super antennae. They are extremely intelligent. Technology and music are religion to them; they believe that to explore both is to experience God. A good beat will induce in them an excited buzz, and they seem particularly animated when exposed to twentieth-century Earth disco. Locaru are selfless lovers, incapable of jealousy, and are delightfully creative, especially when paired off with individuals of larger races.
N’yebi: The last of the N’yebi live on a large, wandering ship. Their waning gene pool has riddled their youngest generations with sterility, and the crew is always looking for compatible races willing to donate their genes. The N’yebi are hungry sexual beings, its women willing to engage in threesomes, even foursomes, with the same man, in attempt to conceive and help save their dying race.
Gatgars and Nova: The Gatgars and the Nova are actually the same race, but they distinguish themselves by color; until the revolution, the dark Gatgars enslaved the pale Nova, and their people continue to fight, to this day. They are shape-shifters, capable of transforming into the likeness and characteristics of any humanoid they touch. They are a technologically advanced race, so advanced that they rely on hand-held computers in order to communicate, their natural speech capabilities nonexistent. They are asexual, reproducing spontaneously when they reach sexual maturity. When a handful of Gatgar stowaways take on human forms in order to survive in the simulated human atmosphere on Pandora’s Hope, they experience interaction, physical touch, and sex for the first time . . . and then decide they’re not willing to give them up.
For me, exploring the sexual nature of these different alien races was a chance to investigate the nature of sexuality. As a science fiction writer, I love to explore, play with literary values, and push my own boundaries. Writing Lust in Space helped me to do that more than any other piece I’ve written, and it is my hope that the experience is just as fun and enlightening for those who read it. I have been so impressed by all of the amazing covers I have seen here, at Ravenous Romance. I think a good cover is super important; I'm guilty of having judged far too many books by their covers, I know, but the fact of the matter is I'm not alone. Moreover, a good cover is going to reflect its story well. When I saw the cover for Lust in Space, I was blown away. I knew that RR's cover artists were good, but I never expected to see something so spectacular, especially with the ensemble cast I included in my cover form. I was elated to see the Suxiens (the two "Unicorn" women in the upper right-hand corner), complete with horn, and the great picture of the main characters, in the center. I am in love with this cover!
